The word video game has always grabbed the attention of gamers. Everyone has played countless video games at some point and has enjoyed it with the same excitement every single time. Nowadays video games are not just a hobby but, it has become a hugely successful money-making industry providing several job opportunities.
While playing, you might have come across many video games that have glitches or bugs that you just ignored. Here, in this article, let's take you on a short tour, listing some of the famous bugs that are found in video games, bugs that you wouldn't be able to ignore.
Elastic Moving Characters (WCW)
WCW is a professional wrestling video game released by THQ in 1998. There are a total of 48 characters, and each player in the game has their own signature move. This game can be played as a single-player or in a team. The player must defeat the opponent to be the world champion.
Though it's an exciting game, there is a glitch in it. The characters during the fight move as if they are made of elastic. For example, a hand while punching the opponent goes too far, which looks as if it is detached from the body or any other part respectively.
This bug has made the game hard while fighting with an opponent. The player gets confused as the character moves on the whole screen, making them look like the tournament is being held in the air.
Doubling Distance (Minecraft)
Minecraft is a famous video game that has won many awards. Mojang Studios developed this in May 2009. There is no goal in the game, which allows the players numerous options to achieve a high score. The game is all about exploring the 3D generated block, which contains tools, build structures,s, and earthworks.
The bug is that the distance keeps doubling whenever the player moves away from the 3D block, leading to confusion. At one point, when the character is away from the block, the character falls off from the world into space and gets stuck in it. The quality of the graphics in the game is too low that pixels are visible.
This glitch has made it very difficult to reach the block. The players get wandered off due to the error in distance calculation on the screen.
Abnormal Characters (Assassin’s Creed: Unity)
Assassin's Creed: Unity is an adventurous game developed by Ubisoft Montreal in November 2014. This game is all about peaceful fighting against the Templars who desire control of the town. It is also a multiplayer game.
Like all the other games, Assassin's Creed: Unity also had glitches which made it hilarious even though the purpose of the game is not. The bug was that the characters in the game were not properly designed or could not be fully extracted from the store. The additional characters, like citizens, would bump into each other and get stuck.
These types of glitches made the game funny and also irritating at the same time. The main character would get stuck between the building and would not move unless the game was restarted, resulting in a loss of interest.
Gender Change (The Sims 3)
The Sims 3 was developed by Redwood Shores Studio in June 2009. The game is a life simulation where the player handles all aspects of the character's life as he wishes. The player not only controls the fate of the Sims but also the neighbors. It is one of the best-selling PC games ever.
Though it sold over 10 million copies, the game had a bug. The characters have their own identity; for example, females with their lifestyle like clothing, dressing, appearance, or even in the stages of going to labor differs from a male character. But here, even the male character experiences the same. Female dresses can also be put on male characters.
Not only male to female but even with children, the same glitch was found. This results in a lack of interest in the game for the players. Characters are the most important parts of a game, and even a slight bug in them would lead to a disaster.
Corrupting And Deleting Of Files (A Pool Of Radiance: Ruins Of Myth Drannor)
A Pool Of Radiance: Ruins Of Myth Drannor was developed by Ubi Soft in 2001. This game is a replica of Dungeons and Dragons. The game focuses on hack and slash combat and the exploration of dungeons. It includes interaction between the characters, which is interesting.
The bug of the game is not while playing the game but while uninstalling it. Yes, you heard it right. When the player uninstalls the game, the game will uninstall, and with that, some of the files that are related to the operating system would be deleted, which ends in corrupting the operating system.
This kind of bug is very dangerous to a system. Unknowingly, the player has corrupted the operating system, leading to unforeseen problems due to a video game.
Graphics Error (WWE 13)
WWE 13 was developed by Yuke's and was released in October 2012. It is a wrestling game and was said to be the second phase of the revolution in the WWE video game. It has a new audio system called WWE Live and a modified predator technology engine.
The big bug that disappointed the players in WWE 13 was the irregular graphics. The faces of the characters are too scary or too funny to be a wrestler. For example, wrestlers falling from the fighting stage would be weird to watch with their body parts flying about.
These types of glitches make the players lose focus, and they find it funny. A huge amount of graphical error also leads to the freezing of characters between the game.
Car Travelling on Water (GTA Vice City)
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City is one of the famous games. It was developed by Rockstar Games and released in 2002. The game lets the player go on an adventure by navigating and conducting criminal activities to complete the mission.
Sometimes even our favorite games disappoint with their bugs. We have all seen cars traveling on water, but vehicles also traveled in GTA, which was a critical glitch. The player drove the car away from the road to escape from the police, which made it much easier to win.
This kind of bug results in winning the game dishonestly without enjoying the actual game that the developer intended. Also, these bugs connecting to other parts of the games may end up in a lack of security for the player.
Endless Tracks (Mario Kart)
Mario Kart is a racing game developed and published by Nintendo in 1992. This game was sold around 8.7 million times around the world. The player has to defeat the other racers by driving fast and collecting coins simultaneously. It is also a multiplayer game.
Mario Kart has the glitch of endless tracks. When the player, during the race, mistakenly moved to the edge of the track and fell in the grass, then the game brings back the car to the track, but during this process, the game gets stuck, which leads to the racer never reaching the lap even if the game ends.
This was the major bug in the game. Never-ending tracks make the player quit. Also, there are shortcut paths in the tracks through which the racer can finish a lap in just three seconds, cheating other players out of winning the game.
Giant Chickens And Spinning Head On Horse (Skyrim)
Skyrim is an action role-playing open world game developed by Bethesda Gaming Studios in 2012. Skyrim lets the player explore the island of Solstheim at will, pursuing quests at their leisure. The players use dragons to target and attack enemies.
As in every game, even Skyrim also had a bug of giant chickens. Chickens are highly protected from the humans in the game, but sometimes, due to errors in the game, chickens grow in height, making them bigger than humans. Another bug that players found was when you are traveling on a horse, the human's head starts to spin without any reason.
Getting bugs in the middle of the game is so frustrating. Players in the game get fed up due to these errors occurring repeatedly.
Disappearing Character (Battlefield 3)
Battlefield 3 is a shooter video game developed by DICE in 2011. In Battlefield 3's campaign, players take on the personas of several military roles where the campaign takes place in various locations and follows the stories of two characters, Henry Blackburn and Dimitri Mayakovsky.
What's the point in playing a game when you have encountered a bug in it? Even Battlefield 3 had a disruptive bug. During the game, the characters, like the partner of the lead character, grow into enormous creatures or get stuck in between characters.
Characters getting stuck during an interesting game is so depressing and a spoiler too.
Video games give so much joy, but even the slightest bug would ruin the fun out of it. Every game consists of bugs and glitches, but to beta test before bringing it out to the public would provide a much better review than to get feedback from the players.
