Background On Lego Games

Since 1995, 85 commercial video Lego games have been released. After the second game, Lego Island, which was developed and published by Mindscape, the Lego Group decided to publish games independently. This division had been called Lego Media but was renamed Lego Software in 2001 and Lego Interactive in 2002.

The division co-published with Electronic Arts before closing. Former Lego staff then founded a company named Giant Interactive Entertainment to publish future Lego games.

The Aftermath Of The Release

After the release of Lego Star Wars: The Video Game, Giant Interactive Entertainment merged with Traveler’s Tales and formed TT Games.

TT Games was acquired by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment (WBIE) in November 2007 and is currently the primary publisher of Lego games. 

Lego Island

Lego Island was released in September 1997 for Microsoft Windows. It is a Lego-themed action-adventure game. Lego Island was developed and published by Mindscape. It was the first Lego video game released outside of Japan.

This game is a nonlinear video game. Like most of the later Lego games, it is played from a first-person perspective, and it offers five playable characters. As the player, you roam around and customize the island. 

The mechanic, Bill Ding, helps you build vehicles or complete missions like pizza delivery, jet ski racing, and even catching an escaped prisoner known as Brickster. 

Lego Island won the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences Award in 1997. In the United States, Lego Island sold more than 900,000 copies between 1997 and 1999. 

Lego Island – The Plot

The plot centers around the missions that the player has completed. You play as a character Pepper Roni. Mama and Papa Brickolini run the pizza shop. A pizza is ordered from the jail, and Pepper Roni is sent to deliver the pizza. 

This gives the prisoner, Brickster, the opportunity to escape. The rest of the game centers on the recapturing of Brickster. Two different endings are possible. The end depends on whether the player has been successful in sending Brickster back to jail or not.

Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga

Lego Island was the first Lego game, Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga” is the newest Lego action-adventure game. It is still to be released, but it is included here as Lego games enthusiasts are waiting for the release date.

It will be released soon for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Series X/S. But as a result of the pandemic, the release date still has to be announced. 

Unlike most other Lego video games in which players had to advance through the story in a linear order, players of this game will be able to choose to start the game from any of the nine Skywalker Saga episodes. 

Players can complete the episodes in any order they wish.

Lego Worlds

In this game, players build constructions in a 3D world. Players create their own world by using predefined Lego structures. The players with landscaping tools can modify the terrain and environment.

The Lord of the Rings film trilogy is the basis of the game. You will find that the music and voices are taken from the three sequences of The Lord of the Rings. 

The game follows the events in the films, but some scenes from the movie have been altered to be more family-friendly.

In January 2019, all digital sales of the game were stopped, as confirmed by Warner Bros Interactive. The game was re-added to Steam in April 2020.

But the road to Mount Doom, where the ring can be destroyed, is riddled with Orcs and other fouler things. A Fellowship is formed to help Frodo. In November 2016, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment announced that a remaster would be released in April 2017, introducing split-screen cooperative support. The storyline is based on the City-themed toy line by Lego. 

The storyline follows cop Chase McCain who is pursuing the escaped crime boss Rex Fury. The original version was for single-player only, but the re-release added a local multiplayer.

The game features a similar plot to other Lego titles, such as Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga and Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes. It alternates between different action-adventure sequences and puzzle-solving scenarios

A handheld version was released as Lego Marvel Super Heroes: Universe in Peril. It was released for iOS, PlayStation Vita, Android, and Nintendo DS, and 3DS.
